We Have Friendly Certified Personal Trainers

Correna Barnard - Owner / Certified Trainer

Correna Barnard - Fitness TrainerHi! My name is Correna Barnard. I am a personal trainer and the Owner of Fitness on 4th I have been in the fitness industry for the past six years. It was six years ago, on my 40th birthday, I decided to take a hard look at my lifestyle and health. I found a program that worked for me and I made the commitment to losing weight and getting healthy. Just to give you an idea of how far I've come, I began at 286 lbs. I went from a size 22 to a size 6. So it changed my life in a big way no pun intended (LOL). After experiencing this success in weight loss, I was inspired to take it one step further, I challenged myself to participate in my first ever figure competition and in 2008. I successfully took 4th place and have not looked back since.

Fitness will be a part of life for the rest of my life and my goal is to help as many people I can accomplish their dreams and fitness goals. I'm a mother of three and I have two grandchildren. I'm thankful every day that I made the decision to commit to my health and fitness, and I'm excited to bring my passion and excitement about fitness to you at Fitness on 4th.

Rob Barnard - Owner / Marketing Director

Rob Barnard - Fitness TrainerHello, I'm Robert (Rob) Barnard and I am Owner of Fitness on 4th. I am very happy and excited to bring my version of what a fitness facility should be like, to Coeur d'Alene. I look forward to participating in local events and providing a positive contribution to our local community.

Before becoming owner of Fitness on 4th I had spent most of my life traveling and working in the heavy equipment rental industry when I decided to settle down in North Idaho. I have been a life long sports enthusiast and participated in numerous sports activities, for the physical benefits and for the fun of it! Ask those who know me best and they'll answer without a doubt, that I am a kid at heart, that loves to play and be active! I especially love to golf and try to play as much as I can.

I was introduced to the tremendous benefits of weight training after sustaining a sports injury to my shoulder. As rehabilitation I started a personal weight training routine and was amazed at the impact it made on my recovery. I also had the privilege of cheering on my wife at her first fitness/figure competition and was inspired by her accomplishments.

Through my wife I have been introduced to many inspiring people and their incredible stories and I could not help but feel like I wanted to be a part of that, and so here I am today, proud owner of Fitness on 4th and I look forward to meeting you!

Ruth Dixon - Certified Trainer/ Silver Sneaker Instructor

Ruth Dixon - Fitness TrainerIn what is becoming a wonderfully long life, I'm very happy to say I've been fortunate to have been able to work in two professions, both perfectly suited to my passions - mortgage fraud investigations and fitness. Mortgage fraud dominated my life for about 30 years as a law enforcement officer as well as in the private sector. Fitness played a secondary, but no less important, role. For as long as I can remember, I've belonged to gyms and had personal trainers. At least 15 hrs a week was spent hill running (six days a week) and lifting weights every other day. Four years ago, I was hurt very badly in a car accident and released to exercise one year later. Because of a rod, plates, screws throughout my body, I was afraid to work out just anywhere. Precision Fitness personal trainers had a great reputation and that's where I went. When I stopped my real job a year ago April, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and wouldn't you just know, I went to work for Fitness on 4th. It was a very easy transition to join the Fitness on 4th team since I had worked with many of the trainers when they were at Precision Fitness, I went through their certification program and am once again having the time of my life. Because of its protocol, High Intensity Theory, coupled with sound nutrition principals, I now devote about one or two hours a week to my fitness program and am probably stronger, with more energy, than when I graduated from the Sheriff's Academy in 1976!! I am living proof that the quality of our lives can be beyond our wildest dreams - IF we want it and are willing to work for it.

Come see me. I can show you how!! It's never too late to make a huge and positive change in your life.

Connie Carter - Personal Trainer

Connie Carter - Fitness TrainerHi, my name is Connie Carter. I have been involved with Fitness in one form or another for the past 20+ years. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 34. Our life (my husband and myself) as we knew it, had to change. It was a rough road for a time. My fitness routine (weights and group classes) became a priority in my daily life and we had to focus on changing our nutritional habits. There was a lot of Dr. appointments and many highs and lows during this journey. I learned early into my disease that I could let diabetes control me or “I” could control my diabetes. With the help of my medical team, support of my husband and trial and error we have become educated and successful at living a healthy and happy life with this chronic disease.
In 2010 I experienced tendonitis in both my elbows and arthritis and disk degeneration in my low back. Both of these ailments took me out of the gym and I spent many months in Physical Therapy. After this experience I understood that I could not return to the type of fitness regiment that I was involved with if I was to remain injury free. I was searching for a new fitness home when I found Fitness on 4th. I began training with Correna Barnard in Sept. 2011 and quickly came to believe and experienced results from the concepts of H.I.T, Super Slow training and the nutrition guidance.
After much coercion in Feb. I began training with John Caylor (Voted Northern Idaho’s best personal trainer for 2011 and 2012) to participate in the Empire Classic Fitness show that was held in April. This was the biggest challenge I had endured in my adult life. To be confident enough in myself and my trainer to appear on a stage in an itsy-bitsy bikini, in 41/2 in high heels and be expected to walk. Well it happened, I survived, took 4th place in the masters’ bikini division and as often happens, one thing leads to another and I am now a Trainer myself at Fitness on 4th.
Fitness will always be a part of my life and it is now my goal to share this passion with as many people as possible. I want to inform diabetics that there is always hope, we can change our lives, whether through nutrition and exercise, healthier habits, having a support team etc. I will be here to help, come visit me at Fitness on 4th.

Bret Ravsten - Personal Trainer

Bret Ravsten - Fitness TrainerThe seeds of my fitness career were planted at a young age. I ran Cross Country and participated in Power Lifting in High School. I have been fortunate to have many knowledgeable training partners, mentors, and coaches.

It is my good fortune to now have the opportunity to pass on my
experience, and the knowledge I have gained. Through my experiences I have learned some universal principles:
•the key to optimal health and physical fitness lies in balance and symmetry - in everything including nutrition, lifestyle (rest, work, home life) and of course your exercise routine.
•fitness is not a “destination”, true and lasting fitness is achieved by incorporating it into the “journey” of our daily lives.
•anyone and everyone can benefit from an active lifestyle and I wake up thankful every day, knowing my job is to assist people in achieving their goals and receiving the benefits that an active lifestyle provides.

No matter what your fitness goals may be - whether it is to lose weight, gain muscle, compete in races or lifting events, overcome a sedentary life style, or anything else you can set your mind to – I would like to assist you in obtaining your goals and dreams and look forward to helping you start on the road to achieving your healthy life.

Anthony Cardwell - Personal Trainer

Anthony Cardwell - Fitness TrainerHello my name is Anthony Cardwell. Fitness and extreme sports have always been a part of my life - from playing sports in high school to snowboarding and mountain biking the back country.
In 2008 I adopted a healthy lifestyle which included an overhaul of my eating, and became serious in the gym by setting goals and pushing my body to limits I did not feel were obtainable. In turn, every aspect of my life has been positively influenced. I find true happiness assisting clients in establishing and achieving their goals, (goals they may have thought they would never achieve.) 2012 I earned my Personal Training certification through The National Academy of Sports Medicine, and I am a proud member of the team at Fitness on 4th.
Let me help you make some positive changes in your life.
